MY STORY
I love silver.
I love working with silver. I love its soft shine. I love the way it contrasts with or complements gemstones.
It’s an expensive habit!
I first started making jewellery about 15 years ago. When I first began, I used cheap glass beads, and was really just trying to make pieces for myself. I wanted pieces that were unique, that were exactly the right length, and were the right colour. It has grown from there.
I am lucky enough to live in rural Somerset. I won’t say we live in ‘peace and quiet’, as there’s always something going on in the fields around our house, but its lovely to have some outside space and to be able to watch the changing of the seasons.
After many years of having little more than the end of the kitchen table as my workspace, I have now been able to take over a small – but ever-growing – corner of the garden shed. I can shut myself away in there for hours, with lots of coffee and biscuits and Spotify for company. Occasionally the cats will sit outside and demand to be let in, but they’re more of a hindrance than a help so I try to ignore them.
I sell at craft fairs mostly. During Covid that wasn't possible, so I have made the leap into having my own website. I’m starting small, but hopefully this will grow.
I make individual pieces, depending on how the mood takes me, or which stones catch my eye. I don’t make lots of the same piece but, if there is a necklace or pair of earrings that you like, but which has already sold, get in touch: I may be able to make something using the same stones or a similar style, it will be almost the same but will be unique to you.
I am unable to wear silver-plated jewellery as I have a nickel sensitivity. Because of this, I only ever work in sterling silver. Where the silver weight in a piece goes over the legal limit (7.78 grams for sterling silver) it will be hallmarked.
